The planned research and part funded by The Berrie B Foundation into helping your dog live a longer, more comfortable life....

  • Organoid cultures for disease modeling and drug screening.  This is growing microscopic mini-organs from pancreatic biopsies in dogs and use these to help understand the differences in the pancreas of  normal dogs and dogs with pancreatitis. This research will be groundbreaking but of course as with new research, expensive.

  • Genetic studies in breeds of dogs to understand the causes of the disease of Pancreatitis

  • Canine specific antibody treatments for immune-mediated pancreatitis in dogs (the equivalent of an anti-B cell antibody used in humans: rituximab).  The Canine version is currently only available in the USA but when passed for UK, this will then be started.
